How can I choose investment options?
Choosing how to invest your money is an important part of managing your retirement plan—whether you are just getting started or periodically reviewing your account.
Default investment option
All retirement plans have a default investment option, which is where your contributions will be invested unless you actively choose a different fund or combination of funds. The default option may be a Target Date Fund (TDF), a managed account, or another investment type determined by the plan.
Available investment choices
Most plans offer a range of investment options, which may include:
- Small-cap, mid-cap, and large-cap equity funds (representing small, medium, and large companies)
- Bond and fixed-income funds
- International or global funds
- Index funds
Depending on your plan, you may also have access to pre-built or model portfolios designed to align with different risk tolerance levels and retirement timelines.
Making your selections
You can choose your investments on your own through your plan’s Recordkeeper, or select from any pre-set portfolios offered by the plan.
